THE BINGO ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF DAY DINNER
In support of Variety, The Children's Charity
Thursday 26th May 2015
The oldest Marriott hotel in the world played host to this year’s Bingo Association Charity Golf day on 26th May. The Breadsall Priory near Derby dates back to the thirteenth century and boasts two excellent golf courses, with The Priory course providing the challenge for the 65 competitors at this year’s event. As was the case last year, The Bingo Association’s nominated charity, Variety, was the beneficiary of the day’s fundraising efforts.
The picturesque venue and moving the event from September to May proved popular, as did the dry weather. The course proved a tough test, with the average score just under 25 points (equivalent to 11 over handicap). The top prize for BA Members, The Maygay Trophy, was won by last year’s runner-up, Darrel Stoten of Mecca Bingo. A loyal supporter of the BA Golf Day, Darrel regained the trophy that he won 13 years ago in 2003.

Shaun Gibson of Carlton Bingo came second, just one point behind Darrel’s winning total of 38 points.

Having both individual winners in their team made Mecca Bingo (Tony Lister, Paul Swendell, Keiran Simmonds and Darrel Stoten) unbeatable in the team competition, winning the Nesfield Cup with 90 points, 6 points clear of Praesepe in 2nd place.
